Southside Child Development Center is a high quality daycare serving the children of low to moderate income working parents, primarily from the Manchester, Hull St./Bainbridge and Blackwell neighborhoods of southside Richmond. For more than 75 years, SCDC has served the community by providing the children of working parents, often single parents, a safe and supportive environment with well-trained classroom staff. When they graduate from the pre-Kindergarten program at age five they are looking forward to "big school" with confidence and enthusiasm.

Our Mission

SCDC provides a safe, supportive place for working parents to leave their children. SCDC children are nurtured and loved, educated for school-readiness and developed into strong, indepent people. SCDC uses a sliding-scale based upon household income to determine fees, thereby providing affordable and high-quality child care services.
